 I would feel so much shame when I became aware that I had problems with addiction other then drinking. Lots of people who enter addiction recovery have lots of other problems. Some of us are aware of these problems some of us become aware of our other problems. At this point we need to know none among us will ever be perfect, this is also true for ourselves. Setting the goal that high is part of the pattern we form that led to our failure. Not to be perfect is not a failure, it's just to be human and for most of us we couldn't see ourselves that way. We are human, and all humans have problems believe it or, not. We may not be aware of this but this is a fact. Once my thinking changed to think this way I became free to accept and live sober with all my other problems that I have. I became able to with help to work at these problems to over come a life that was being controlled by these problems. It takes time to heal, to see ourselves as we are, to see ourselves as just being like other humans. We may be alcoholic, but we're human too ! My inspiration to writing my book To My Doc.

I have started a facebook group called my doc relationship. A place to reflect and discuss many topics in regards to addiction and the recovery process. Many great stories are shared.  I am currently working on my second book which is about real stories of addiction and life long struggles.  Please contact me if you would like to add your story to my new book.  Here we put aside our differences and see what it is we can do for each other. Recovery is about that opportunity we've all been looking for. In a real sense we always have had that opportunity. We just weren't aware of it. Recovery allows for this awareness to occur. It's through being helpful to others that this awareness starts to surface. This awareness guides us to the place we've always wanted to be, at peace with ourselves, and the world around us. I thank whatever gave me this opportunity to help others for it has led me to that peace. Some say this may seem priceless, but I've paid a huge price to get here.
